College football is full of upsets, and last week was no exception. Although teams like Clemson and USC escaped the weekend, Miami, Texas, and Oklahoma weren’t so lucky. Almost every week, it seems like there’s a few upsets. Here are my picks for some shockers this week:
Texas A&M vs Mississippi State
Texas A&M was upset earlier this season by Appalachian State, but they’re still a quality team. While they have a solid squad, the Aggies are coming off an emotional victory against Arkansas. Not only that, but they’re traveling to Starkville to face a high-powered Mike Leach offense.
Mississippi State thrives in these types of games. Although the Bulldogs’ defense is anything but spectacular, Texas A&M could shoot themselves in the foot on offense like they have before this season. Additionally, Will Rogers is having a spectacular season as State’s quarterback, with a 16/3 TD/INT ratio. The cowbells will be ringing, and Jimbo Fisher and his guys better be ready for a high-octane game. Just check out this dot by Rogers and you can see why an upset is a possibility:
Oregon State vs Utah
Oregon State gave USC a scare last week, and this could be the week that they finish the job. Oregon State quarterback Chance Nolan isn’t going to throw four interceptions again, and running back Jam Griffin looks to build on a solid 84 yard game against the Trojans. The early start time has trap game written all over it.
Meanwhile, Utah has been playing well since their 29-26 loss to Florida. However, that loss is looking worse and worse as the weeks go by, calling into question the Utes’ legitimacy. Cam Rising is facing a Beavers secondary that ranks tenth in the nation in interceptions. Can he step up to the challenge?
Overall, it should be a fun, chaotic week of college football as usual. Thanks for reading!
